What Are Metalosates?

What are Metalosates?

Metalosates are the result of chelating mineral nutrients with amino acids.
Chelation is the process of attaching a specific organic molecule to a mineral in two or more places to form a ring. The molecule holds the mineral like a claw, surrounding and protecting it from adverse interactions. Albion produces mineral nutrients chelated with amino acids. Since all living amino acids are the basic building blocks of protein found in all living things the chelation of minerals with amino acids provides a tremendous advantage in efficiency of absorption and translocation of minerals within plants.

The process of chelating minerals was developed by Albion Laboratories in 1956 and today remains the only true source of amino acid chelated minerals on the market today.

Rapid Absorption. Metalosate products are formulated for application directly onto plants as a foliar spray. This bypasses the reactions in the soil which can make the elements unavailable. Research studies have shown that Metalosate chelated minerals go to work within hours of application minimising the possibility of the nutrients being washed off by rain or overhead irrigation. Visual responses can often be observed within a few days of treatment where severe deficiencies exist.

Safe and Effective. Metalosate products can be applied to crops with less concern of phytotoxicity. Because the absorption of the amino acid chelates is so efficient, much lower application rates of the mineral are required to achieve measurable responses. Metalosate products can be used effectively on sensitive crops without problems such as burning of leaves or marking of fruit or flowers.

Easy to Use. Metalosate products can be included in a total spray program on any crop. They can be tank mixed with most crop protection chemicals. All of the liquid Metalosate products are easy to measure and pour and since there are no solubility problems they will not settle to the bottom of tanks or clog screens and nozzles. They are non-abrasive and will not cause wear on spray equipment.

Superior Value. Albion brings high technology down to earth with patented cost effective products. Calcium, magnesium, zinc, copper, iron, manganese and boron are each formulated as separate Metalosate products. This allows you to mix only the nutrients you need to achieve the right balance without having to paying for unnecessary products. Broad spectrum nutrient blends are also available.

Quality Support. As a service to the grower T&J’s operates a leaf sampling service which performs analyses on soil, irrigation water and plant tissue. From results our Albion representative can put together a bespoke fertility program using Metalosate products bespoke to your needs. A representative is on call for any questions during office hours telephone 01603 781217.
