Novus MAAC

In 2008, Albion were the first company to launch a new generation of Metal Amino Acid Chelates (MAAC) using glycine as the chelating amino acid.  Glycine is a naturally occurring amino acid with the lowest molecular weight.  The use of glycine enabled a stable, low molecular weight molecule to be produced with a defined structure which could be measured quantitatively.  In 2010, Novus purchased Albion's Animal Nutrition division to add MAAC to their range of feed additives for ruminant livestock.
Novus have approval under EU Regulation 479/2006 to supply:
  • Copper Glycine Chelate (MAAC Copper-16)
  • Iron Glycine Chelate (MAAC Iron-16)
  • Manganese Glycine Chelate (MAAC Manganese-16)
  • Zinc Glycine Chelate (MAAC Zinc-20)
Replicated trials have reported significant improvements for the MAACs over inorganic mineral salts for milk production, fat and protein yields, and in key reproductive indicators including services per conception, open days and pregnancy rate.

This range of MAAC continues Novus's technical expertise in supplying bioavailable minerals benefitting animal health and production.
